Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts- DBICA – the media wing and the communication centre of the Salesian province of Chennai had its humble beginnings in the late nineties and today DBICA is a full-fledged communication centre. Today DBICA has emerged as one of the premier media institutes which is actively involved in imparting values, skills and promoting media literacy among young people and those involved in the field of media ministry. To this end DBICA has been conducting training in Media and Communication, Special courses in Photography, Videography, Acting, Editing, and producing Short Films, Documentaries and informative Social Videos. Infrastructure, quality training, and opportunity of hands on experience – these are some of the factors for the outstanding success of DBICA. These are the reasons why DBICA gets an edge over the other media centers.
Formation and Training
DBICA trains and forms young people to become critical and intelligent consumers of all media products, especially through animation courses and training programmes. DBICA has earned a name for training and animating young people in schools, colleges, parishes and youth groups
Seminars, Research and Film Festivals
DBICA conducts seminars and researches on media impacts and media habits. ATHIRVUGAL the research wing cum film movement of DBICA organizes monthly seminars and research on media related themes, media issues, movies, social issues and other current events. DBICA offers a platform for young artists to screen their short films and documentaries.
Production
DBICA has produced and continues to produce numerous audio and video products on wide range of topics for the youth and educators. It also does a lot of documentation in the field of communication, mass media and society.
